Root 101, open source tablet ten inches $ 169 born thanks to crowfunding

In the incredibly competitive market of Android tablets, it is becoming more difficult to find something different and original. Most manufacturers comply with the formulas that they know will work, and only details like software layer differentiate each other. So when we find projects such as the Root 101, we can only talk about them, because they change the way of doing things ending with a product that should have nothing to envy the large manufacturers.

And the Root 101 is intended to be the tablet(Cube U30GT) "more open source" that exists. This means that has been designed in order to make it fully open, both the end user and developers. So, all the code they are writing to make the stock version of Android supports the hardware of the tablet, will be released under a free license so that other developers can create ROMs accessing your system easily. Speaking of ROMs, the creators have created versions of the two most popular currently and Paranoid Android CyanogenMod.
Another interesting point is that the tablet hardware section also falls short compared to other tablets in the same price range. The main character is the 10.1-inch IPS screen from where the name of the device, with a resolution of 1280 x 800. For the processor, have opted for a dual-core 1.5 Ghz AmLogic accompanied by a Mali-400 graphics chip and 1GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of internal storage expandable with a micro SD card, Bluetooth, and two cameras, a 2 MP rear and VGA front.

And now is when is the other big difference from other tablets: the Root 101 is a project that seeks funding through Indiegogo crowfunding platform. To get one, you may pay as little as $ 169, although the final price will be $ 189. For the project to come to fruition, they need $ 185.000 in 24 days, of which 2,000 have already achieved at the time of writing this article. The final release would be in August. Behind this tablet, there is a three-person team that was responsible for choosing the appropriate hardware, system design, and develop all Android related software, a task that is not at all small. It is one more example of what can be achieved in this Internet age.
