Today brought to light new data confirm this rumor a bit more , as it seems Samsung have canceled making LDS antennas 5 million to make way for the production of 5 million IMA antennas, which are slightly thicker , they are integrated into the construction of the phone itself and allow the water resistance and dust resistance. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 features a LDS antenna while the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active , the waterproof version we mentioned before, IMA incorporates an antenna.
Will thicker the waterproof version of the Galaxy S5 ?
The fact that the IMA antenna used in water- resistant device is a bit thicker than the LDS, makes us think that the Korean company would have to make a slightly thicker than "normal " version device. However, the Chinese manufacturer Daesan Electronics have succeeded in developing a IMA antenna with the same thickness as an LDS antenna, which would be called H - IMA .
As discussed from PhoneArena , the thickness of this new antenna would be between 0.15 and 0.20 mm , so Samsung could use to get a Samsung Galaxy S5(samsung galaxy note 3 cases) fine and resistant to water and dust.
If all goes as planned, the February 24 Samsung will present its new smartphone at MWC in Barcelona, but probably will not make mention of the versions that will bring this major release.
